Discover how System Contexts control data visibility and help enforce security boundaries by limiting user access to specific sets of systems.
Video Transcript
The System Contexts page enables administrators to control which systems SysTrack users can see, based on their role or responsibilities. This allows organizations to create access boundaries, limiting the visibility SysTrack users have to systems within a specific region, business unit, or responsibility area.
For example, to maintain security, a company may limit access to executives' laptops to a small group of senior help desk technicians.
If needed, use the Manage Users and Groups admin page to create a user group that [TM1.1]contains the help desk technicians who will have access.
Create a Context group from the System Contexts page in Configure. Select the user group, also called the permission group, that should have access to this context group.
Systems are assigned to a context group by setting a parameter when the SysTrack agent is installed, or by updating the parameter if the agent is already installed.
Only users in the mapped user group can see the SysTrack data from systems in the specified system context group.
System Contexts are typically configured as part of an organization's security model. Detailed setup instructions and deployment considerations are available in the SysTrack documentation.
