An automation runs approved scripts, called Actions, on endpoint devices, with settings that control when and how the scripts run. An automation can run automatically when a sensor triggers (with a tool schedule), manually by the end user (in Self-Help), or by a member of the IT team in Assist, Resolve, or Prevent.
Each automation runs one file of one Action. Actions are executable files and can include batch scripts, PowerShell scripts, JavaScript files, or Node scripts. The endpoint device must support these script types.
You manage automations on the Automations tab at Configure > Tools > Automations and Collection Extensions > Automations. To create one, see Create Automations.

The Automations tab lists the automations in a table with these columns:

Detailed View
The detailed view of an automation shows its settings, its details, the scheduled automations by role and sensor, how it runs, and its options. In the upper right of the detailed view, you can click to edit the automation, export it, or delete it. See Edit Automations, Transferring Automations Across Tenants for export and import, and Delete an Automation.

The Scheduled Automations section of the detailed view displays the role to which a schedule is applied, the relationship between automations, and the sensors that trigger them. To open the Tool Schedules tab of a role, click Manage Tool Schedule in the row of that role. To open a sensor, click View Sensor in Prevent. This link is not shown for every sensor. To schedule an automation, see Tool Schedules.

When automation permissions were added in 11.1, existing automations were given to every group (SysTrack On-Premises) or to the All Users and Assist for ITSM groups (SysTrack Cloud). A new automation has no groups. Select them with Edit Permissions when you create or edit the automation.
In SysTrack Cloud, Assist for ITSM is a group in Automation Permission Control. ITSM stands for IT service management. If you use ServiceNow, select the Assist for ITSM group to make the automation available in Assist for ITSM.
