Create and configure an automation by selecting an action and defining execution settings.

To create an automation, navigate to SysTrack, open Configure, and unlock it. Select Automations and Collection Extensions from the Tools menu and click the Create Automation button. Choose the operating system the automation will run on from the dropdown menu and give the automation a name.

When you click the Select Action button, a window appears showing all available actions and whether they have been approved and enabled in the tenant. Choose your desired action and click Select Action. If the action has not been approved, you will need to go to the Action Governance tab to approve it before the automation will run.

Each action is defined by a metadata file that describes its structure and the files it includes, such as batch scripts, PowerShell scripts, or CSV files. Anything flagged as executable in that metadata will appear in the dropdown list. You can then select which file to run and pass any necessary arguments.

Automations can also use parameters from sensors. For example, if a memory leak sensor fires, it can provide the name of the leaking executable, which you can feed into your automation for decision‑making.

The automation’s behavior is determined when it runs in the environment, but you can configure the text that appears in any notification prompt. Prompts can include timeouts so that if a script exceeds the limit, the agent will terminate the process. You can also choose whether the automation runs under a system‑level or user‑level account and whether it executes synchronously or asynchronously.

If you want the automation to be available in other areas—such as Assist or the self‑help tool—you can enable options in the Additional Availability section. You can also choose which groups of SysTrack users can execute the automation by clicking the Edit Permissions button.

Once you click the Save Automation button, your automation is ready to deploy through the SysTrack platform.
