SRE: Configuring the Experience Index

Prev Next

This video explains how sensors influence the Experience Index score, and how administrators can adjust or disable sensors globally or for specific groups.

Video Transcript

The experience index is the percentage of a user's active time that is free from issues impacting their digital experience.

The index is calculated from a curated set of sensors that monitor user experience impacts. Because each company, or even each location, can place different levels of importance on index score components, sensors can be removed from the calculation or adjusted to change the impact they have on the index.

SysTrack provides a default list of experience index sensors. However, suppose your company determines that some of these sensors, for example, the Webex sensors, don't matter much in your environment. In this case, you want to adjust them globally.

Open SysTrack configure and go to the management page under sensor configuration.

Choose experience index from the perspective drop-down menu. Click the sensor.

Go to the experience index tab and change the impact minutes, or click disabled to remove it completely from the scoring. Disabling a sensor for experience index does not turn the sensor off in the environment. It only removes its contribution to the score.

The sensor continues to collect data and remains available in investigative workflows.

Other conditions may affect user groups differently. For example, a remote location might always have low Wi-Fi signal strength, so you want to disable that sensor for that specific group.

To do this, go to the roles page and select or create the role assigned to that group of systems.

Select experience index from the additional settings drop-down and disable individual sensors.

Globally disabled sensors appear unchecked and read-only.
