Our help desk has been receiving complaints from our remote workers dealing with hangs in Microsoft Teams during the workday. It only seems to be happening on systems that are also experiencing latency issues. We want to know when this is happening so we can solve the problem right away.

To set up a notification to be sent when a sensor triggers, go to the Notifications page under Sensor Configuration in the Configure tool. Click the plus icon to create a sensor notification and give it a name and description. In this case, we will call it Teams Issues.

In the Sensors menu, select Applications, then scroll to Application Hang. You could also start typing directly into the search field if you know the sensor name. In some sensors, including this one, an instance dropdown will appear allowing you to select a specific application. We will choose MSTeams.exe for our example. Then click the Add button.

We want to correlate this with latency problems. Let's change the category to End User Experience and select Latency Issues. Then click Add.

If we only want to monitor a certain group of systems, we could select the group from the dropdown menu. Indicate your activation count either by number of systems or percentage of systems. Add one or more recipients to be notified when the criteria are first met. Recipients need to be added to the Recipients tab at the top of the page in order to be selected. They can include users or distribution lists to be emailed, or can include a webhook to push to systems if that is enabled in your environment.

Recipients will be notified when the Application Hangs sensor triggers for Teams and major latency issues are detected at the same time on the specified number or percentage of systems during the same reporting period. The notification will not fire again until it has been either dismissed or resolved in Prevent, and the activation criteria are met once more. If the sensor notification has already triggered and additional systems meet the criteria, those systems will also be added to Prevent under Systems Currently Affected.

Issues that remain active will not keep sending notifications. Note that all criteria must be met for the sensor notification to send. If you want to monitor for either application hangs or for application faults, you would need to create two separate sensor notifications.

Save the notification to proceed.
