Configure Policies

Prev Next

Use the Policies tab on the Roles page to change the policies of a role. A policy is a role setting that controls how the SysTrack Agent behaves on the systems whose configuration includes that role. The Policies tab is available only in SysTrack On-Premises.

The Policies tab lists the settings that do not have their own tab on the Roles page. A setting with its own tab, such as Tray App or Application Management, does not appear here. Change that setting on its own tab instead.

Hover over an item in a category to display its description.

Prerequisites

To open the Roles page and change a policy, your privilege set needs Configure > Configurations access. Set this in Configure > SysTrack Settings > Privilege Sets, as described in Set Security Privileges.

Change Policy Settings

  1. Go to Configure > System Configuration > Roles and select the Policies tab.

  2. Ensure that the lock icon at the top right of the page is unlocked for editing.

  3. Select the policy.

  4. Where applicable, enter a new value in the Value field.

  5. Select or clear the check box to the right of a line item as needed.

  6. Click Save Changes at the top right of the page.

Apply a Policy Change to Systems

A system picks up a policy change the next time it reads its configuration. To apply the change right away:

  1. Go to Configure > SysTrack Settings > Administration > Operations.

  2. Under System Selection, select the systems to update.

  3. Under Command Dashboard, select Read Configuration and click Run.

  4. Check the result in Command Report.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Cause

Resolution

Policies tab is missing from the Roles page

The tab is available only in SysTrack On-Premises. On SysTrack On-Premises, your privilege set does not have Configure > Configurations access.

Ask an administrator to add Configure > Configurations access to your privilege set.

Value field and the check boxes are read-only

SysTrack Configure is locked.

Click the lock icon at the top right of the page to unlock it, then change the policy.

Policy you expected is not in the list

The setting has its own tab on the Roles page.

Open that tab and change the setting there.

Saved policy has not reached the systems

Systems read their configuration periodically, so a change takes effect on the next read.

Run Read Configuration from the Command Dashboard to apply the change right away.
