Install the Browser Extension via Chrome Web Store

The best practice is to install the SysTrack browser extension from the Chrome Web Store, as explained in the following steps.

IMPORTANT: The Chrome Web Store will always have the latest version of the extension, which supports Manifest V3.

Follow this process:

  1. Before you install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, you must use SysTrack Configure to disable the extension that ships with SysTrack. If you do not disable it, you will end up with both versions of the extension running simultaneously, which will cause duplicate data to be recorded.

  2. Go directly to the extension in the Chrome Web Store via this link: Lakeside SysTrack Extension. You must use this link, because the extension is intentionally unlisted and cannot be found with the store's search field. The browser extension is named lsiwebhook.

  3. Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store. This process does not require any modifications to the agent for the extension to work correctly.

  4. If you want to deploy the extension across your organization via Group Policy, note the following two items:

    • The extension ID is edbcgbpgfipjpfhkoapcafhpfpfjjadc.

    • The update URL is https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx.

    TIP: Keep in mind these details about the extension ID:

    • If you notice that your installed extension has a different extension ID (jhcapbneelnpoblfiphhojfkjfjfipop), that is the extension ID of the extension installed automatically through SysTrack. To ensure that you always have the latest extension, install through Chrome Web Store and use that version (extension ID edbcgbpgfipjpfhkoapcafhpfpfjjadc).

    • The extension and its ID of edbcgbpgfipjpfhkoapcafhpfpfjjadc works for all Chromium-based browsers.

  5. Configure the Group Policy by adding the extension ID and the update URL to ExtensionInstallForcelist within the Group Policy Management Editor. This action ensures that the extension is automatically installed on all devices governed by the policy.

  6. Apply the policy across your organization to facilitate the automatic deployment of the browser extension.
