Web App Performance User Guide
This DEX Pack Lite provides web app owners the ability to track and monitor performance metrics of critical business web apps in detail and over time.
Overview
The pack allows you to track the performance of configured web applications across the organization over last 30 days. It enables monitoring of click-to-render time, round-trip time, and processing time over a period to identify potential performance degradation.
NOTE: For the dashboard to display any data, you need at least one Web App configured in SysTrack and used by one of your users. The page where you configure Web Apps in SysTrack is at Configure > Web Apps. The page is visible only on SysTrack Global Masters. Inheritance of specified URLs to Regional Masters may take up to 24 hours. For more information about declaring web apps in SysTrack, see Web Apps in Configure.
How This Feature Helps You
The Web App Performance DEX Pack Lite offers several key benefits that help optimize the performance and adoption of web-based applications. Main advantages:
-
Usage Tracking: Enables visibility into how web applications are being used across the organization, helping track adoption rates and usage patterns.
-
Performance Monitoring: Provides detailed metrics such as click-to-render time, round-trip time, and client-side processing time to monitor application responsiveness.
-
Proactive Issue Detection: Helps identify early signs of performance degradation, allowing teams to take corrective action before users are impacted.
These features collectively support better decision-making, improved user experience, and more efficient application management.
Average Time per Web App
Displays the average values for performance metrics across all configured web applications. These averages are calculated across all systems and cover a 30-day period. Users can interact with the chart by selecting or deselecting specific metrics and clicking on individual web apps to view more detailed data. The metrics are as follows:
-
Click-to-Render: Click-to-render is the total elapsed time from when a request is sent from the client to the server until the response is rendered, including both the server response time and the client processing time.
-
Round Trip Time: Round-trip time is the elapsed time from when a request is sent from the client to the server until the server responds and the response is received.
-
Processing Time: Processing refers to the time it takes the client to manage the response from the server.
Selected Web App Over Time
Once a web app is selected (e.g., Google Sheets), this pane shows daily performance trends for that specific app. It transitions from aggregated averages to time-series data, allowing users to:
-
Identify performance degradation or improvement over time.
-
Pinpoint specific days with unusual behavior.
Selected Web App - Systems
This pane provides system-level performance data for the selected web app. It helps identify outlier systems that may be contributing to performance issues. The view includes:
-
Average, Minimum, and Maximum values per system.
-
A complete list of systems that accessed the selected web app.
You can also use the System Search text box to search for individual machines to investigate performance anomalies. This supports targeted troubleshooting and validation of system-specific issues.
