Every new, imported, or edited action waits on the **Pending Approval** tab of **Action Governance** until someone approves it. Approving an action also enables it. Watch a quick overview, or follow the steps in this article. [Approve and Enable Actions](https://player.vimeo.com/video/916809888?h=e59738f3d3&badge=0&autopause=0&player_id=0&app_id=58479) ## Prerequisites - The **Action Governance - Management** permission. See [Configure Action Governance Permissions](/documentation/docs/configure-action-governance-permissions-1). - When Action Approval Control is on, a user other than the one who imported or created the action. Action Approval Control is available in SysTrack Cloud. It is on by default for new tenants. In SysTrack On-Premises, the user who imports an action can approve it. See [Action Approval Control](/documentation/docs/configure-action-governance-permissions-1#ActionApprovalControl). - For a signed action, the public key of its publisher. If the **Signed** column shows **Yes** for the action, import the public key of the publisher in [Publisher Key Management](/documentation/docs/publisher-key-management) before you approve the action. You can approve an unsigned action without a key. ## Approve an Action 1. Go to **Configure** > **Tools** > **Automations and Collection Extensions** > **Action Governance** > **Pending Approval**. 2. Click the lock icon in the upper-right corner of the page to enable editing. 3. Select the check boxes next to the names of the actions that you want to approve. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image(194).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A01%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A01%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Wynp5hWHXfcHljzl3jbXWsN2QMDjTYFhx%2FAZdEAjdq4%3D) 4. Click **Approve**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image(195).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A01%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A01%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Wynp5hWHXfcHljzl3jbXWsN2QMDjTYFhx%2FAZdEAjdq4%3D) 5. The approved actions are listed there and are enabled. For the columns of the tab, see [Action Governance Overview](/documentation/docs/action-governance-overview). Systems download an approved action the next time they read their configuration. Downloading an action does not run it. An automation runs the action. See [Create Automations](/documentation/docs/create-automations-1). To make systems read their configuration now, run the **Read Configuration** command: 1. In **Configure**, go to **SysTrack Settings** > **Administration**. 2. In the **Operations** panel, select the systems. 3. Under **Command Dashboard**, select **Read Configuration**, and click **Run**. ## Enable or Disable an Action Enable or disable approved actions on the **Actions** tab of **Action Governance**. Approving an action enables it, so you need to enable an action only after it was disabled. An action must be approved and enabled before its automations show in Assist. 1. Go to **Configure** > **Tools** > **Automations and Collection Extensions** > **Action Governance** > **Actions**. 2. Click the lock icon in the upper-right corner of the page to enable editing. 3. Select the check boxes to the left of the action names. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image(197).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A01%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A01%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Wynp5hWHXfcHljzl3jbXWsN2QMDjTYFhx%2FAZdEAjdq4%3D) 4. Click **Bulk Actions** and select **Enable** or **Disable**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image(198).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A01%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A01%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Wynp5hWHXfcHljzl3jbXWsN2QMDjTYFhx%2FAZdEAjdq4%3D) 5. Confirm the change. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image(199).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T17%3A01%3A35Z&se=2026-11-06T18%3A01%3A35Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=Wynp5hWHXfcHljzl3jbXWsN2QMDjTYFhx%2FAZdEAjdq4%3D) To check the result, look at the **Enabled** column of the selected actions on the **Actions** tab. ## Delete an Action Delete approved actions on the **Actions** tab of **Action Governance** with **Bulk Actions** > **Delete**. To delete an action that waits for approval, select it on the **Pending Approval** tab and click **Delete**. > [!CAUTION] > **WARNING**: Deleting an action also deletes every automation that uses it, and their tool schedules. You can't undo the delete. The confirmation message does not tell you this. 1. Go to **Configure** > **Tools** > **Automations and Collection Extensions** > **Action Governance** > **Actions**. 2. Click the lock icon in the upper-right corner of the page to enable editing. 3. Select the check boxes to the left of the action names. 4. Click **Bulk Actions** and select **Delete**. 5. Confirm the delete. To check the result, make sure that the actions are no longer listed on the **Actions** tab. ## Troubleshooting Action Approval ### Approval Fails with "Not Found in Staging Area Folder" When you approve or enable an action, the approval can fail with the error **[Action].lscmd not found in staging area folder**. For the cause and the fix, see [Error while Approving an Action](/documentation/docs/error-while-approving-an-action).
