Use an engagement to remind users of expiring Active Directory passwords.
Video Transcript
This video will show how to create an automatic notification called an engagement. When a user's active directory password is set to expire from the configure page, select engagements from the tools menu on the left. Unlock the configure tool by clicking the lock icon in the upper right. Click the plus icon to create a new engagement.
Fill in the short name of the engagement, which will be visible internally only. Add in the text that you want the user to see, as well as how you wish to prompt them to act. In this case, we want them to first be informed that their password is expiring soon. Then we want to give them the opportunity to change it immediately from within the engagement. Would you like to change your password?
Now, since changing their password involves navigating to another website to proceed, I will choose the link button. Then add the text “change password” to the button. Then I just paste in the link URL and click save.
Now you are able to schedule the engagement to run via the roles page. Go to tool schedules and add an engagement. The action will be the engagement you just created, but then you must choose the variable that triggers it—in this case the AD password expiring sensor being triggered.
Apply this role to the systems in your environment and you'll be all set. Users will get a password reset popup with the created information once the sensor is triggered on their machine.
