Using this category on the Roles page Alarms tab, you can configure alarms for a set of Latency metrics.
The Latency category is on the Alarms tab of a role (Configure > System Configuration > Roles). To turn these alarms on and change their limits, times, and profiles, see Configure Alarms in a Role.
In the example alarm configuration called out below: A sample is taken every 15 seconds. If the Default Gateway latency is 100 milliseconds or more for 120 seconds, a Yellow level alarm is triggered. If the Default Gateway latency is 10000 milliseconds or more for 60 seconds, a Red level alarm is triggered. If an alarm is triggered, no Notifications will be sent and no Action will be taken.

Latency Alarms and Defaults
The Latency category has these alarms. The Default column shows the factory values. A role can change them.
Alarm | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
Default Gateways (ms) | Monitors the network latency (in milliseconds) to the default gateway. | Off. Yellow 100 for 120 s, Red 10000 for 60 s. |
RDP Clients (ms) | Monitors the network latency (in milliseconds) to RDP Clients. | Off. Yellow 200 for 120 s, Red 10000 for 60 s. |
Connected Servers (ms) | Monitors the network latency (in milliseconds) to connected servers. | Off. Yellow 200 for 120 s, Red 10000 for 60 s. |
Latency Ping Settings
The Latency category has ping settings that other alarm categories do not have:
Each Latency alarm row has Collection Enabled, which is on by default.
Each Latency alarm row has Ping Rate. The default is 15 seconds for Default Gateways (ms) and RDP Clients (ms), and 10 minutes for Connected Servers (ms).
The Latency category row has Ping Timeout. The default is 5.
To ping another system, click the + icon on the Latency category row, and add the system by name. The new row has its own alarm values.
