# Fix and Validate Issues

Once a problem exists in Reliability Engineering (see [Work with Problems](/documentation/docs/create-and-manage-a-problem)), the next step is to act on the issue and verify whether the result is improving.

Watch a quick overview or read the detailed information below.

[SysTrack Reliability Engineering Problem Workflow](https://player.vimeo.com/video/1204166935?h=4f067b44c0&badge=0&autopause=0&player_id=0&app_id=58479#t=114s)

## Prepare to Act

From the **Problem Scope** page (see [Work with Problems](/documentation/docs/manage-a-problem)), you can proceed with two options:

- [Take Action](/documentation/docs/fix-and-validate-issues#take-action-on-affected-systems) to run an automation, collection extension, engagement, or survey.
- [Notify Users](/documentation/docs/fix-and-validate-issues#notify-users) to send an alert or announcement.

Before acting on an issue, confirm that:

- You want to target all affected systems or a subset.
- A required action is available and ready to run.

> [!TIP]
> **TIP**: All actions and notifications automatically appear in **Recent Activity**. For details, see [Work with Problems](/documentation/docs/manage-a-problem).

## Take Action

1. Click **Take Action** in the **Problem Scope** view.
2. Select the systems to target:
 - All systems in the problem
 - A subset of systems for testing or targeting specific environments ![](https://cdn.document360.io/87d11426-6b1f-4b19-b593-b71e55a81af3/Images/Documentation/image-1778163504698.png)
3. Select the appropriate action:
 - **Automations** (see [Automations](/documentation/docs/automations-4))
 - **Collection Extensions** (see [Collection Extensions](/documentation/docs/collection-extensions-2))
 - **Engagements** (see [Engagements](/documentation/docs/engagements))
 - **Surveys** (see [Surveys](/documentation/docs/tools-surveys))
4. Configure any required options and click **Take Action** to run the action.

## Notify Users

1. Choose a notification type:
 - **Alert**: Sends a targeted message to selected systems.
 - **Announcement**: Sends a message to all systems in the environment, not limited to the problem baseline (see [IT Announcements](/documentation/docs/prevent-it-announcements)).
2. Configure the required options and click **Notify** or **Announce**.

> [!NOTE]
> **NOTE**: Alerts can be sent using the [Self-Help](/documentation/docs/self-help-app) application or the Moveworks integration. To receive alerts through the Self-Help application, systems must run Windows and connect to SysTrack. To receive alerts through the Moveworks integration, systems must have a primary user, and that user must have an email address identified in SysTrack.

## Monitor the Results

To evaluate results, switch to the **Monitor** view.

### Review the Sensor Issue Trend

The trend chart shows how the issue changes over time.

- The data is based on the problem baseline.
- Each action appears as a separate reference point in the trend and a separate tab above the chart.
- The number of affected systems should decrease if the fix is effective.
- Use the **Show graph with only targeted systems** filtering options to view:
 - All systems in the problem
 - Only systems where an action was applied

### Review the Targeted Systems

Below the chart, check the list of targeted systems for an action. Use the filtering options to refine the list as needed.

### Check Recent Activity

At the bottom of the **Monitor** view, the **Recent Activity** section provides a summary of all actions recently taken for the selected problem. For details, see [Work with Problems](/documentation/docs/manage-a-problem).

## Close or Update the Problem

Once the issue is resolved:

- Update the problem status to **Resolved** or **Closed.**
- Ensure notes and actions accurately reflect the work done.

If the issue is ongoing:

- Keep the problem **In Progress**.
- Continue monitoring and acting as needed.
