Edit Automations

Prev Next

Edit an automation to change its settings, its category, or the groups that can use it. You can also delete an automation that you no longer need.

Prerequisites

Editing is turned on. Click the lock icon in the upper-right part of the screen. While the page is locked, it is read-only.

Edit an Automation

  1. Go to Configure > Tools > Automations and Collection Extensions > Automations and click the name of the automation to edit.

  2. In the upper right of the detailed view, click the Edit icon (pencil).

  3. Edit Automation opens. You can change every setting except Supported OS. For each setting and its default, see Create Automations.

  4. (Optional) Select a Category from the list. The Category list shows None, the sensor categories, and the categories that other automations use. To add a category, click the + button to the right of the Category list. A category that you add with + is kept only when you save an automation with it. A category name can have up to 30 characters.

  5. Click Edit Permissions.

  6. In Automation Permission Control, select or clear the groups that can use the automation.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click Save Automation.

Check the Result

After you save, a message says that the automation was successfully updated.

To check the groups, click View Permissions in the detailed view of the automation.

Delete an Automation

Delete an automation from its detailed view on the Automations tab. Editing must be turned on.

WARNING: Deleting an automation also deletes the tool schedules that run it. Before you delete, check the Scheduled column. You can't undo the delete.

  1. Go to Configure > Tools > Automations and Collection Extensions > Automations.

  2. In the Automations table, check the Scheduled column of the automation. It shows the number of triggers (tool schedules) that run the automation.

  3. Click the name of the automation.

  4. In the upper right of the detailed view, click Delete.

  5. Confirm the delete. If tool schedules use the automation, the confirmation shows how many scheduled triggers will no longer run.

The automation no longer shows in the Automations table.

Troubleshooting
