Collection extensions run actions that are created as collection extensions. You manage them in **Configure** > **Tools** > **Automations and Collection Extensions** > **Collection Extensions**. > [!NOTE] > **NOTE**: Collection Extensions are currently supported only on Windows, as they rely on specific SysTrack PowerShell cmdlets. A collection extension writes to one of two table types: - Collection tables: these tables receive continuous, time-correlated updates. - Inventory tables: these tables store static data that is updated periodically, such as information about installed software. To create a collection extension, see [Create Collection Extensions](/documentation/docs/create-collection-extensions-1). To change, import, export, or delete one, see [Edit Collection Extensions](/documentation/docs/edit-collection-extensions). For the PowerShell commands that a collection extension script uses, and test scripts, see [Custom Data Collection with PowerShell](/documentation/docs/api-reference-custom-data-collection-with-powershell). ## Collection Extensions List The **Collection Extensions** tab lists every collection extension in a table with these columns: | Column Name | Description | | --- | --- | | Name | The name of the collection extension. | | In Self-Help? | Whether the collection extension is available in Self-Help. | | OS | The operating system that the collection extension supports. | | Run As | Whether the collection extension runs as the user or as the system. | | Runtime Limit | The configured runtime limit. | | Scheduled | The number of triggers (tool schedules) that run the collection extension. | | Last Modified | The date and time when the collection extension was last updated. | The **Create Collection Extension** and **Import** buttons on the **Collection Extensions** tab work only in edit mode. To turn on edit mode, click the lock icon at the top right of the page. Click the name of a collection extension to open its detailed view. ## Collection Extension Detailed View The detailed view of a collection extension shows its settings, the action that it runs, and, under **Scheduled Collection Extensions**, the tool schedules that run it. In the **Scheduled Collection Extensions** table, click **Manage Tool Schedule** to open the Tool Schedules tab of the role, or click **View Sensor in Prevent** to open the sensor. The **View Sensor in Prevent** link is not shown for every sensor. To schedule a collection extension, see [Tool Schedules](/documentation/docs/schedule-automations). On the right of the detailed view, icons let you edit, export, or delete the collection extension. The edit and delete icons work only in edit mode. For the steps, see [Edit Collection Extensions](/documentation/docs/edit-collection-extensions).
