# Add a Data Series to the Graph

Any series you add to the graph will persist throughout your current vScape session. Once you have added a series to the graph, you can [use the Advanced Graph Content Controls](/documentation/docs/use-the-advanced-graph-content-controls) for functionality such as changing the series' graphical style or units.

1. Select a tab and then select an item.
  - From the **Hosts** tab select a **Host system**.
  - From the **Storage** tab select a **Storage unit**.
  - From the **Systems** tab select a **System**.
  - From the **Applications** tab select **All Systems** or a specific group of systems.

> [!NOTE]
> **NOTE**: Before adding an Applications data series to the graph, you must first click **Remove All Series** to clear all previously added data series from the graph.
2. For the Applications tab only: Before you add the series, you can enter an application name to filter the applications that are graphed to only that application. Wild cards (*) are allowed and the filter is not case sensitive. Only the top 10 (or less) applications matching the entered filter text will be returned.

3. Select a **Graphable value**.

> **TIP**: If you are selecting from the Applications tab, you can only select one **Graphable value**. If you are selecting from any other tab you can select multiple **Graphable values**.

5. The series is added to the graph.
